My new 20th birthday

They say that 30 is the new 20. Well then it was my new 20th birthday last month, I'm usually not big on celebrating birthdays, but this year I turned new 20.

Firstly, look at what I got from the husband!!!

Drum roll...

Of course it had to be something from CHANEL ;D

Actually I already knew what I was getting for my new 20th birthday present, cause we asked a friend to purchase this for me while they were in UK, which was much cheaper than buying it from Australia. Seriously, after this one I am done with Chanel, their price are getting ridiculous.

The classic flap, in the jumbo size and caviar leather.

Birthday lunch. Yum cha at Bodhi on the Park. I liked the outdoor seating, but the food was so bland, and they charged us $12 for a small pot of jasmine tea, we didn't even have refill.

Kevin booked the Shangri La, we stayed at one of the horizon club rooms on level 32. He spoils me.
Afternoon tea at the Guylian cafe at The Rocks. I had a macchiato and waffles with ice cream. The waffle was light and crunchy, topped with ice cream and chocolates. I must say that I prefer Max Brenner waffles.
Took a stroll at The Rocks and Circular Quay, like a tourist.
AA top Forever New skirt Converse Chanel bag and sunnies
Collage of me me and me. After all, it's my birthday. I'm allow to be vain.
Went back to the hotel, and ordered some room service. I love room service! because 1) someone brings the food to you, 2) eat it in bed while watching dvds, and 3) for someone like me who can be a bit of a clean freak at times, I do not have to worry about washing the bedsheets.
I even brought a Saturday Lotto, the draw was on my birthday, but did not even come close to wining anything. Doesn't the NSW Lottery know it's my birthday?!
The next day...

Harbour view from our room. There was people running the marathon early in the morning on the harbour bridge. Such health conscious bunch, it made us feel guilty about our own laziness for approx. 3 seconds...
...and then went down stairs to have buffet breakfast.
Random shots of the day.
And, Betty came! my twin. Born on the exact same day as me. She and her hubby came to Sydney for her new 20th birthday from New Zealand, but only for the weekend. We took her to Max Brenner, and because I was not completely satisfied with the waffle from Guylian, I had to have more from Max. After the waffle with strawberries, some chocolate fondue and a mocha I was finally content and satisfied. Yummy!

btw Betty, thank you for the pictures below, I stole them off your facebook.
Other special birthday treats from people, good people.
Clockwise, starting from top left:
1. Black sesame and caramel macaroon, and chocolate brownies, from colleagues.
2. Chocolate coated strawberries dressed in tuxedo - made especially for me from my dear friend Carol. This woman is busy, she runs a full time business and is a mother of a 10 month old. Thank you for making the effort.
3. Digital photo album from Carol
4. Evening clutch from Betty.
5. Melting Moments! made for me by my work wife, Penny. Cause I am special. I love her melting moments. She makes all kinds of cakes with gorgeous decorations and cause they are that good I keep telling her to open her own cake shop.
6. Pressies (before I undressed them)
7. Cupcakes! from the surprise birthday dinner.
Special thanks to Celina, for organising a lovely surprise birthday dinner for me. I am so touched. Very happy you guys all had vegetarian dinner that night in my honour. Yay!

Oh and Dennis ate ice cream with chopsticks.

Honeymoon in Taiwan - Part 2

Here I am having traditional Taiwanese Fan Tuan for breakfast, its a glutinous rice ball with fillings, this one has prickles, you tiao, some soy pork floss and sesames. Of course, this one kicks Chu Ma Ma's (the supposedly authentic Taiwanese cuisine restaurant in Sydney) ass, and it's triple the size. After this, we had a nice walk up to the mountains.

in Taichung

We also went to the Nan-Tou County, it's near ChinJing veteran farm. We stayed at the Na Lu Wan villa, and got the honeymoon suite ;) the view was superb! and only paid half price cause Kevin's aunty is friends with the owner. Yay!

view from Na Lu Wan Villa

@the top deck of Na Lu Wan Villa

an old train station, is now a tourist attraction

We made pottery. I used to be very good at pottery when I was in school, I still am very good at it. Mine turn out better then Kevin's =D

Wood craved artworks. AMAZING!
piles of lychee, big buddha, tea sets and a smoking frog.

a cactus farm, everything made from cactus, including cactus ice cream. I think this was near Hualien.

@Taroko National Park, goregous view.

@蘇澳漁港 Seaport
There are many temples in Taiwan, and being buddhists, we visited many buddhist temples. This one is a Mazu Temple 天后宮 @ 蘇澳漁港

...and this buddhist temple is actually built by Kevin's grandfather in the 1960s.
Beautiful isn't it?

If you ever go to Taiwan, you must MUST try the pastries from 裕珍馨 in Dajia.
THEIR 奶油酥餅 IS SIMPLY THE BEST SWEET CREAMY PASTRY IN TAIWAN AND THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!!!
We brought boxes and boxes of their creamy pastry.
This is what I would want to eat just before I die.

oh, and here are some of behind the scene shots of the wedding photos.
We had great fun at the photo shoot, the staff were so sweet. We liked our photographer very much, her nick name is "Lin Sir" as she can be a bit man-ish. We clicked right away. When they found out we were only in Taiwan for 4 weeks, and getting married just 8 days after the photo shoot, their jaws dropped, but still managed to prioritise our photos so everything can given us before we left Taiwan. This means a team of people working back to 2am in the morning, at no extra cost. So touched, told you the Taiwanese were nice people. Lin Sir also asked if I was interested in doing a set of photos for them as their advertising campaign, and get paid for it. Wish I could, but no time. It would have been fun!

I did a lot of shopping, I particularly liked the Shili night market, yummy street food, fashion accessories, clothes, and other random stuff at bargain prices. However, I was not a fan of Ximen Ding. I was so excited to go there, it turned out to be a little disappointment. Mainly due to the fact that I felt so OLD there. It's a funky place for the teenagers to hang, and I am no teenager!

Also went to Yang Ming Shan for dinner with friends. Lovely view of Taipei city at night, and very silly of us for not we taking our camera that night.

And of course I had to bring back a souvenir from our honeymoon. A little something from Chanel. Camellia embossed bi-fold wallet =D I took these pictures with iPhone, the colour is completed off. It's suppose to be taupe, and the inside is pink.

I so enjoyed Taiwan, and want to go back again. Hopefully soon =D

Honeymoon in Taiwan - Part 1

And so we had our honeymoon in Taiwan, didn't get to go to all the places I wanted to visit cause we only had about 2 weeks left after the wedding. Not to worry, cause I know I will be back!

Taiwan is a great place, I loved everything about it. The beautiful scenery, the culture, the shopping! everything was so cheap, especially the Aussie dollars were pretty strong (AU$1 for NTW$29). The food. OMG, the food is great! I want to live there permanently just for the food. And the people are super nice, they are so friendly, and they go out of their way to help you. Oh, did I mention the food?!

OK, I'm gonna let the pictures do the talking...

@Taipei 101 Building, and view of the Taipei city from the top
Inside 101 building, with the tuned mass damper. Interesting stuff. Read about it here.
The National Palace Museum, not as fascinating as the one in Beijing, after all its not the real Palace, but the Taiwanese does have heaps of treasures in there.
The Sun Zhong Shan Memorial Hall

Inside the Memorial Hall. Look! there's Sun Zhong Shan sitting at his desk, hard at work.
The streets of Taiwan
The FOOD!!!!!!
So many authentic Taiwanese dishes and all vegetarian, we ate so much! including the famous (soy) beef noodle soup, the salt and pepper (soy) chicken nuggets, I didn't really like the (soy) oyster omelette though, apparently the sauce is suppose to be the best part, but I don't like gooey stuff. And of course I had to have some pearl milk tea from the Motherland of milk tea.
Yummo!
Endless choices of drinks at the grocery stores and 7/11. So many varieties I don't know which one to choose. And look at the jumbo sized Yakult!

The Beautiful Sun Moon Lake
Panoramic view of the Sun Moon Lake

@Danshui, I like this place, its very relaxing.

That's it for now, stay tuned for more!

We're married! Say hello to Mr & Mrs Chen

At the beginning of this year, we decided to visit Kevin's home town Taiwan in April. The original plan was to travel all over Taiwan while we were there. It will be my first time there, and I've wanted to visit Taiwan since forever! I brought few travel books on Taiwan, did a lot of research, places to visit, and made a list of all the food I wanted to eat! it will be heaven for me as Taiwan has heaps of vegetarian food.

Well, things didn't really go as planned because he proposed 2 weeks before our trip, nothing fancy, he just asked if I wanted to get hitched while we were in Taiwan over dinner one night, of course I said YES.

The boyfriend of 7 years became The husband on 11 April 2010.
