2nd Trimester (Week 13-18)

The Husband has been so good at taking care of me, dropping me off and picking me up after work so I don't have to walk much. Doing the housework that I used to do. I am so dependent on him.

Been looking forward to the 2nd trimester. Cause all the ladies on the internet said the all day morning sickness goes away after the 12th week. They lied! I am still feeling nauseous and gagging all the time at week 14. Not much progress on the weight gain, still 45.5kg at week 14. According to the kidspot.com.au week by week pregnancy weight gain calculator, I should be 47.62 by week 14.

Thank goodness by week 15, the nauseous are gone and I am getting my appetite back. Mum's also back from Beijing, and has already brought back some baby clothes, and some baby blankets, in pink with Piglet from Winnie the Pooh on it. It's pink. Will I have a girl?

By week 16, I am about 46.8kg, which gives some comfort that baby is doing fine. My gosh, can not stop worrying ever since getting pregnant. The exciting thing is that by now I can feel Baby Chen moving around inside me. At first, I wasn't sure, but my ob said I am slender so shes not surprised I can feel the baby at this stage. It's like a butterfly fluttering around inside, and its sucn an amazing feeling! And I've started to show, even my male colleague is excited for me :)

Ate something bad, and caught a stomach bug. Had to take a week off work, cause I need say hello to the toilet bowl every couple of hours for an entire week. Lost almost a kilo and back at 46kg at week 17. #%@^*.

Finally, feeling normal by week 18 and its about time I meet the honeymoon period of pregnancy!

Here I am at week 18

Next week we go for 19th week ultrasound, to check for development of the baby and any abnormalities *fingers crossed* hope everything is ok! and we will find out the sex of the baby. Then I can really start to argue for the name I want with The Husband.

Also, I really need to start exercising.

1st trimester

I went for a dating ultra sound on 14th October. Turns out I am 7 weeks and 2 days already. We hear the heartbeat! was surprised we can hear the heartbeat at this stage. (Shows how little I know) but it's very exciting! 135 bph. Healthy. That's all that matters. Estimated due date is 30 May 2012. A dragon Gemini. We don't have a name for our baby yet, (although I've already picked out a name for a boy and a girl, but the husband don't agree) so I'll refer to the baby as "Baby Chen" for now.

I call my mum to tell her the news as she was in China visiting my grandparents. I broke the news by saying "mum, you're gonna be a grandma" she paused for 3 seconds before scream into the phone and I am deaf.

Around week 9 I have some minor spotting, which freaked me out. My obstetrician said its common, as long as its not red and heavy bleeding, just rest up and it should be fine.

Argh, morning sickness is a b1tch! I feel nauseous at every waking hour. Throwing up the food you just ate is total grossness. The only comfort from all these visit to the toilet is that this is a sign of a healthy pregnancy. I also lost my appetite, nothing tastes good to me. Veggies tastes bitter! The only thing I enjoy is apple, bread, oats and soy milk. Anything that has too much flavour makes me sick. Boring!

We go for the NT ultrasound at week 12. First thing we see is the baby waving at us. Aww~ *heart melts* I was there for over an hour, cause Baby Chen wont get into the right position to check the fluid at the back of the neck. So there I was full bladder while the lady pokes around on my stomach making me want to pee even more. Finally, baby Chen gets into the right position and everything turns out to be fine. A sign of relief.

It concerned me that I haven't gained much weight, I know in the 1st trimester you don't really gain much, but I was 45kg before being pregnant, and by week 12, I am still 45kg. But since the scan says baby is developing well, it means I lost weight. Must be all the throwing up, and not eating well.

Here's a preview of baby Chen at week 12.

I also find out couple of my friends are also expecting, and our due dates are about 1 months apart. Very exciting, we can have playdates!

knocked up!

The Husband and I been trying since June this year, on our first try, I was sure I had a great chance of conceiving cause I've been taking my BBT for a few months and was able to work out the ovulation date. I did 4 tests that months. Each time, I eagerly wait for the test but all negative, and because I was so obsessed about it, it caused Major delay in my period.

After that, I decided not to worry about ovulation date and just do whatever.

I was sick for few weeks in September, and didn't eat too well during those times. I got my appetite back when I finally recovered, and boy was I hungry. ALL the time. So on 7 October. I was still hungry after a huge lunch. Something in me suggested I go and get a pregnancy test, but wasn't really expecting a positive result, but thought I'd do it just to rule this out. I even brought a 3 in 1 pack as it works out to be cheaper and I can use it next month.

I went back to work, got myself some Kit Kat and a diet coke as my afternoon snack. Half way through the snack, I was ready to pee on a stick. I did the test at work, took my bag in the ladies room (didn't want people to see the test) and still didn't expect a positive result. I put the test aside and started to clean out the test wrapper from my bag, all just took less than a minute, I turn around, look at the test and thought I had double vision cause there was TWO LINES! I looked closely, and its definitely positive!!!!!! I took a picture of the test result and send it to The Husband. Got back to my desk, chuck the rest of the diet coke, and changed my heels into flats.

The Husband called me few mintues later and asked "What does that mean?!" haha, it means you're gonna have a grumpy wife and lots of sleepness nights ahead dear. ;)

I'm currently 18 weeks. Since finding out that I am expecting, I've been wanting to do posts to keep track of my pregnancy, but haven't really had the energy to do so in the first trimester thanks to morning (all day) sickness, tiredness and sleepiness.

Next post, I'll do a summary of the first trimester.

Life will never be the same again ;)
